Chalkhamhill Contemporary is so named after Chalkhamhill press, a limited edition publishing company owned by Mike Frampton.

Chalkhamhill press has over the years helped to launch the careers of many of South Africa's contemporary artists, many of whom have gone on to achieve international acclaim.

With the stated intent of educating, informing and broadening the horizons for South African art and artists, it seemed inevitable that a gallery space should follow, and so it is that Chalkhamhill Contemporary Gallery has opened its doors in Hoedspruit South Africa.

The gallery will work alongside that of the publishing company and will help to educate, to inform and to broaden the horizons of all those who wish to explore the wonderful world that is the visual arts in South Africa today.

It is intended that

• and original art handling classes with talks by many of our leading artists
  
  

will be held each month, and will be open free of charge to all who wish to attend.

The gallery will also provide a springboard for local artists through our association with David Krut galleries and projects in New York, Cape Town and Johannesburg, and through our publishing company.
